passed fleetingly. i am sooooooooo enjoying this little love.

and i think little A is enjoying him just as much.

(circus tricks - somersaults);

It’s been an emotional few days with much drama and next to no eating or drinking to the wobbly point of no energy for play - he refused, claiming it hurt too much. aiii. instead he wanted to be in bed cuddling where he fell asleep, exhausted. Finally, day 3, and after much imploring, he let papa take the tooth out which was really just sitting there in his mouth. Whew. We were all relieved and much happier but he was still not interested in eating or drinking much. He said he wanted more than just money from the tooth fairy. This is our tooth gnome from Ketti.

Recently my mom came across an old note that my sister wrote which read, “mom, the fairy is not coming. Could you please take these 5 teeth and leave some money (or not leave money). ” I had such a good laugh about this but it also made me think that soon my little one’s teeth might be falling out one after the other and so I’ve been making a rainbow of tooth fairy bags to have on hand. They’re perfect to hold both tooth and treasure as well as a small scroll note. For those of you with little ones yet to lose their milk teeth, i love this little poem. Please share other sweet poems if you’ve got any.

Well done my sweet! It was a really hard tooth to lose.

We’re on to the next milestone already as we’re supporting some chills and fever. He always comes out of it just a little bit stronger and wiser.
my parents;

had a party and we all of us gathered - brothers, sisters, in laws and their folks, uncles, aunts, nephews, niece, cousins, cousins once removed, neighbors, childhood friends…it was an “everyone welcome” party spanning several days at several venues;

i did not take any of these photos. most of them are Leanne’s and my aunt Julia’s. this is a photo of Leanne that Julia took (it’s my favorite!);

now if you want to see the truly ridiculous side of my family check here. (click on HQ to view high res scans)
Indeed the time is fleeting and today my little A is a great big six. That’s a lot of candles. We celebrated this weekend with friends, cake (a mushroom cake with red smarties - his request and design), balloons and hockey.

a really little A at 6 days old;

no cherries. no apricots. it was a strange and rainy time in the Okanagan for our reunion of family and friends.

there were sunny patches, often with clouds of thunder looming over the mountains but we did have an afternoon at the beach and there was a little wine touring fun.

i’m waiting on the photos of others to fill in the gaps. it was a busy time but i’m still figuring out how to simultaneously sling my camera and baby - most of my photos are really really bad. oops.
Sunday May 16th, 2010 @ 5:55am he swam into my arms and i fell in love all over again. He’s gorgeous and awesome…i’m still taking him all in.

keeping mostly in the moments here, i have yet to write our birth story. the short version; it was fast - 3 hrs 39 mins. supported - the house was full with my women. smooth - i moved, paced and talked through most of it. surprising - a boy! those first days were sweet, gushy and short. the abundance of milk was once again overwhelming! the crash of hormones unyielding. it’s good to be on the flip side. me and my littles are out and about. on that note, Little A has been really patient and amazing, all the while breaking a new tooth - so many transitions for him.
(thanks for all of your comments in the previous post. i can’t figure out how to make this blog private so it remains open for now. )
i have some beautiful and special women in my life who came to my blessingway recently to share in a fun little celebration. i was sweating with so much attention focused on me and also very grateful for their kind words, love and beautiful blessings. i’m feeling just a little more ready and confident now. For those of you unfamiliar with blessingways i recommend Raven Lang’s book. i had the great fortune of attending a TCM workshop/seminar with her when i was pregnant with little A. She is one very inspiring woman right up there for me with my own birth attendant, Gloria Lemay who led this ceremony. (photo credits - my sistah once again).
the altar;

we squeezed in a little prenatal consult;

gorgeous ranunculus amongst some other beautiful flowers gifted;

weaving a web;

belly casting!

i’m not quite so voluptuous;

yay! thanks gals!

Little A on the left. Newbie on the right. Both around 37 weeks. it’s kind of funny how each is leaning in an opposite direction during the casting. while i feel bigger & wider, the casts look so very similar to one another;

i missed some other lovelies who were unable to travel but who sent their blessings over the waves. xo. i’ve got the bestest friends!
This night it is a special night
As fairies dance upon the roof.
All the fairies must alight,
For Little A just lost a tooth!
The Fairy Queen gives her commands-
Twelve bright fairies must join hands
Then together in a circle stands
To guard Little A while he sleeps.
The Tooth Fairy into the circle leaps
The hidden tooth she borrows
Ah, but has far to go
Before returning tomorrow.
Three times around the world she flies
Over valleys deep and mountains high;
Skirts the storm clouds thick with thunder,
Wings over waves all wild with wonder.
Deep within their earthly homes
Finally she finds the gnomes,
Who upon the tooth must work
Never once their magic shirk.
Some are hammering, hammering, hammering,
Some the bellows blow
Others sweat at the sweltering forge
And then cry out, “Heigh Ho!”
The tooth’s been turned to a shining stone,
A glimmering, glowing gem
The tooth Fairy takes the gnomes’ good gift,
And bows to all of them.
Before the sun’s first rays are shown,
She returns to Little A’s bed,
And then - - - away she’s flown!
(my apologies. i can’t remember where i’ve copied this poem from and i’ve modified it some too. if anyone knows please share.)

if the little one wasn’t so eager to celebrate i’d probably let this one slide but he follows the calendar curiously, wondering which party we get to plan next. he’s been talking Easter since Vday.
“will i get a bunny every year for Easter?” so far that’s the case but can you imagine how many bunnies we’d have? i guess multiples like real bunnies. he spotted this one from afar and eyed it up for 2 days deciding it just had to come home with us. i felt the same way about the tulips.

6;30am sunday;

Spring equinox gifts for my little one - the place mats are for everyone but i think he appreciates them and their color the most;
