snow day!!

Little A skipped the last half day of school and the boys headed out in the snow before 7am. they spent 4 hours straight building snowmen, snow forts, snowballs, sledding, eating snow… After drying off and refueling they headed out again to the tobaggan hill. Small dramas aside, i wore my pjs ALL day (out with my 1993 sorels shoveling snow), got the littlest A to sleep in the teepee and spent some cozy time knitting last minute gifts;

these toadstools pop up in this yard every year and every year they are an amazing surprise to discover. We stopped and wondered if there was anygnome home.

neighborhood rodent control – i’m sort of hoping that the same rodent who ate my tomatoes all summer long had the misfortune of nibbling on this particularly poisonous toadstool;No CaptionNo CaptionNo CaptionNo Caption

keep your eyes out for this barn owl in the hood. he’ll be around in the weeks to come;

Little A is back to school and in good time i think. He was ready to reconnect with friends after our long summer and the brothers are really going through some rivalries these days so the space is good. i wish i could say that i am full of projects and busyness but i’m just not feeling it these days. At the tail end of recovery from a mild concussion & benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, i’m all about single tasking and doing little. The winds are blowing, conkers falling, leaves piling, rhythms shifting…September is always huge;

cotton projects

30 day challenges,creative community,home,woolens | Thursday, January 17th, 2013

i didn’t mean to but i stopped in at Maiwa the other day and picked up some organic cotton for a few simple seed stitch wash cloths.  seed stitch was new for me, very simple and rhythmic to knit over coffee at the cafe. i love a project that i can toss in my tote and finish here and there in a day. i’m hoping there’s enough of each colorway to make a match and then if i’m still into it i might try and knit those Pakucho organic cottons too. my current wash cloths are due for replacement!

still need to block these to even out the stitches but i’ll wait until i’ve knit the others and block them all at once;

other ecologically sound projects on the to do list are both Abby’s reuseable hemp/cotton wipesand Natalie’s lavender skin toner. love those gals!
