the like a bike is so great to learn about balance and now the not so little A is learning about pedals,  or rather he’s learned - he’s got it in 2 days. woowee. he’s so happy and proud as am i.  i’m pretty excited that he’s finally wearing a helmet and that all it took was a kick stand, a bell and a lock and nothing pooh bear. i best pull out my sneakers -  Alistair ran around the block at least 20 times in the rain with him today.

i soaked in many hot baths when i was pregnant. i think the sound of running water is a comfort to him.

i love his wee little dimpled bum (and that wee patch of darker hair).

i’m not sure it was the best substitute as it’s a much finer yarn and really i should have waited for some smaller circulars but i’m following through with it mostly to keep my knitting momentum. i’ve got project goals!  those 5 skeins of charcoal are intended for a pattern i purchased long before i could really knit. i’m sure it was Alison’s fabric choice that sold me BUT before i get that on needles i have some other projects. i’m going to knit myself a sweater. i’m terrified but Jane Richmond’s Oatmeal Pullover looks easy enough for a beginner knitter such as myself.

i’m an all natural gal when it comes to fabrics and fibers so i opted for  some Groovy Dream In Color (funny name since i chose white).

for little M - a simple boat neck sweater in organic cotton;

Little A has his own lengthy list of quirky designs for me that i can’t wrap my head around. He’s not really fond of wearing knits so i’m having a hard time entertaining his ideas some of which are due for Halloween. instead i’m hoping he’ll be satisfied with something along the lines of organic face cloths in rainbow colors.  we’ll see.

there’s much much more on the list but i’m keeping the patterns simple in hopes that i don’t give it up. i’m digging ravelry. i especially love their pocket card chart for needle inventory - don’t go to the yarn shop without one.

on the sewing front; there’s some sweetness added to the shop;

so it was buttered carrots for teatime today. woohoo.  oh and the tea was homegrown chamomile - enough for only 1 pot so it was pretty special.

this morning little A said to me after hearing little M’s explosion, “i bet the little munchkin is proud of himself”. yes i hear myself in that statement;

i have knitting time! another pair of picky pants in 4 colorways to use up the leftovers. love them;

M’s new favorite spot. i can’t believe he digs the maya wrap of all slings. so far so good but he’s only 14lbs and sure to grow heavier on my 1 shoulder;

we’re spending more time at home than i think i’m comfortable with during summer but they are both so happy at home until about 2/3pm when we finally get out to do something.
