one day oldminutes after birthlittle babe

Congratulations! again and again. i felt so much confidence that this would be a beautiful and natural birth. I’m sure it was a long and challenging experience for Anna, and Randy too, but to me, spending the night curled up on their couch in and out of sleep with the constant wave of birth toning, waxing and waning, i felt more calm and relaxed than i have in a long while. She was so strong and patient, he was completely supportive and present. Glo, who also attended Arlo’s birth is the ultimate holder of sacred space and Kirstin, another mama expecting her 3rd was very generous in sharing the couch and a sleeve of her sweater while we waited and slept through the night until early morning when i (lucky lucky me) got to see this gorgeous boy born right into his papa’s bare hands. How beautiful is that? Thank you guys for inviting me to photograph this most special birthing day. Happy Big Brother Day to Bodhi. i’m so excited for all of you. Happy nesting.

gush. this moment stirred much emotion for me. it was so very special. Little B meeting his littler baby brother;

  4. Such beautiful images. I had an emergency csection for my first born after an induced labour. I knew no different and it ended in a healthy baby, but the experience was so far from what I’d always imagined it would be. A new obstetrician and my second daughter was born naturally, beautifully, healthy, quickly in what was the most amazing achievement of my life. I have never felt such an amazing sense of achievement, so proud of myself, my husband and so in love with all those who helped me. I am now truly of the school who believes that it’s my greatest achievement. Two gorgeous girls, both equally as precious, but two completely polar experiences. Well done friend Anna, what an amazing start for you and your babe.

  12. Oh! I can’t believe that I will actually ask that question!
    Ok Ella, tell me about the birds and the bees…actually the part after the birds and the bees 😉
    See, Dan and I are thinking about having a baby. Like in a near future…
    And I just looked at your last set of pictures and it’s seems so simple and beautiful and natural. But in my head, the baby thing (before, during and after the birth) is scary! And you are, in my head, the ULTIMATE natural baby expert. I’m just looking at my options. As much as I would love to give birth naturally I’m very scared when I think about it…but when I looked at your pictures it made me feel safe! So anyway, if you have any books that I could read or things that I should do, let me know!
    Thank you so much and take care xox
