in the studio before the Christmas Fair
At the start of October i wondered if i should even bother setting up shop at the VWS Christmas Fair this year due to the fact that i had very little to sell, but once i committed to it i got busy in the studio, tried to set a realistic sewing schedule and while there is no end to the ideas of things i’d love to still sew, i’m feeling nearly satisfied and ready to offer up a wide variety of my handmade goodness. In addition to the crowns, teepees, wool felt bundles and some other items not yet photographed, here is a peek;
new crayon rolls with a flap!
for gifts and/or treasures;
a biggish baby quilt with bamboo batting, nearly finished;

for sniffles;

clutch purses in favorite fabrics with favorite buttons;

button sets for crafty diy folk;

colorful goodies and fabric remnant packages (more for the crafty diy folk);

several items for the tree and nature table;

cozy knits of wool and organic cotton;

relaxing meditation eye pillows filled with organic flax, buckwheat and Okanagan lavender;

quilted scarves;

i also have a nice pile of quick change trousers sizes 12mos-2+yrs, my current favorite go to pattern to clothe my youngest boy (maybe i’ll get some better photos this week…);

Receive 10% off my items at the VWS Christmas Fair by introducing yourself and mentioning my blog post. (i haven’t seen the floor plan but i think i’ll be set up against the wall to the right as you enter the hall.)

Beautiful! I wish I didn’t live on the east coast, that sale sounds fabulous.

Wow. I think it would have taken me a year to make all that!

Great stuff Ella! It always bugs me that our fair is the same weekend as the Vancouver fair…I’m never able to make it. I hope you sell out….and are you willing to divulge the source of the amazing tree fabric? My tree loving boy would be ecstatic to have something made from that.

Such beautiful work. You have a brilliant eye for fabric combinations and I love your use of linen. If only Australia were not so far from Vancouver….how I would love to come to your fair.

What loveliness you have to share! I would love to be at the fair to purchase some of your beautiful goodies (we live in North Carolina) I especially love the little button sets and the matryoshkas. Bright blessings on your Christmas fair and happy holidays.

Everything is so tasteful and looks so perfectly done. These pinecones are the best! Will pick one up from your Etsy shop if you have some left after the fair.

Wow wow wow, as usual you make the most amazing items.
If you still have a pinecone after the craft show I would love to get one…but I know that you will sell them in 5 minutes!
Take care xox

I just came downstairs feeling smug after making 3 bags for our school fair next weekend. Then I saw this….Holy cow, how do you do it? It all looks truly lovely - I too covet the felt pinecones. Good luck - I hope it is a wonderful day.

ok so i did have some stock already (my painted elves, fabric buttons, a few balls and matryoshkas…) i keep a shop year round and i’m set up to work on things near daily so i usually have an abundance of items on hand or at least in the “ready set sew pile”. Definitely my production mode kicked up a notch this past month but still within the scope of enjoying the process. it will be a great time as always. i’m so getting a candy apple this year!

So lovely! Do you use a punch for your felt leaf garland or do you cut by hand? If punched, what brand is it? I am having a hard time finding one for wool felt. Thanks!

love it all! I set up a table at our (waldorf) school’s winter faire last year and it was so much work that I needed to take this year off! I am putting all of my craft efforts into the fundraiser table this year but will be giving myself a year to make more and set up next year! it was so much fun to participate. i would love to do it full time. wondering about those knitted caps! did you knit them all? what pattern if you dont mind my asking? the stack is gorgeous! you are always such an inspiration to me in all that you create. made a bunch of those gnomes to sell at our fundraiser table! xo

wow. i don’t get it. when do you get the time to sew all this? Please write a post on time managment. I’m utterly amazed. I wish i could come to this fair. But London is a bit far away. I’ll try my local Steiner school fair.
