Sunday was perfect blueberry picking weather - a little cool and cloudy. we eat them fresh as they are or with granola & yogurt or as a dessert with other berries, cream, hemp seeds and maple syrup. Frozen, they are often the base of smoothies all year round and they cook up a sweet pancake topping too.
Raspberries were in unexpected abundance and we all left bellies full.
We return to the same farm each year out of habit & nostalgia but after doing some reading on blueberries i’m keen to find other u-pick farms that use natural growing practices. i love Westham Island but it’s becoming a beaten path from which it’s time to diverge a little. Local suggestions greatly appreciated!
