bunnies and black birds

we went looking for bunnies and they seemed to be expecting us.  i noticed some new signs not to feed the wildlife. i never considered the older signs meant the bunnies too but i agree they are too well fed now with so many people visiting over the months in the past few years. it seems some people have gathered more than their dandelion greens and carrot tops and have been dumping the contents of their compost bins near the bunny mounds which in turn attracts more rats. ew. so we may take them a token green in the future but aim more to respect the signs and wildlife.a.bunnyNo CaptionNo CaptionNo CaptionNo Captionm.

the red winged blackbirds seemed tame too, landing in open empty hands. the boys loved this so much and spent a good long while “tricking” the birds.

i love this park during the cooler months.

  1. i didn’t realize there were so many waterways there! and over-the-top-bunny cuteness. i’ve never had a blackbird land so close where we are. they arrive about now, and hit the feeders for the sunflower seed hearts. but they take so much! we have been known to tap windows to send them on their way. maybe i just need more feed, and to be more inclusive to all. it looked like a beautiful mosey. xo

  2. To be honest, ever since Dan saw your bunnies pictures (like a few years ago), he wants to move to BC ;)

  5. That’s amazing to see red winged black birds landing in A’s hand. They are the MOST skittish bird around here. They’ll come to our deck in a small flock once in a while, but if you even so much as look their way, they explode into flight. That would be an amazing experience to have a bird come land in the hand like that. A looks so calm and sure.
